THE BEST LEADING COUNTIES IN AGRICULTURE

 As it known by everyone, Agriculture is the backbone of Kenya's economy and it's also estimated that 70% of Kenyans depends on Agriculture. There are numerous counties which have still maintained to highly produce and deal with it in large-scale terms.

     Some few counties opted to try a new challenge but others still remains and stuck fully on agricultural production. Monday254.com compiled a list of counties which are leading in this agribusiness.

  1. Nyeri County.
Nyeri town us known to be the largest town in Nyeri county. It's known to practice farming since during the colonial rule. The county experiences adequate rainfall thus making the residents there to fully practice agriculture. Its also one of the leading in the growth of coffee, Tea, maize, legumes, tubers and vegetables.

      2.  Nyandarua County.


Its located in the central part of Kenya, bordering limuru town. It's known as a tourist attraction because of the famously Aberdare ranges. But apart from this, Te county fully practice agriculture and depends on it as the backbone of the county as well. The county is also known for the high production of cereals and vegetables. The such towns like Kinangop, Ol-Kalau and Kipipiri are where the most of agriculture takes place in large-scale.
 
  
    3.  Meru County
It's one of the largest town in the county. Meru county is known for producing Miraa(Khat), which is one of the main export not only in Meru county but Kenya as a whole. 
        But apart from this cash crop, the county also highly produces bananas, cassavas, Yams, Maize, Sorghum, Millet, and Sugarcane.
      
        4.   Kiambu County
When mondaynews.com landed in Kiambu county, the main focus was in Thika town nicknamed "The land of pineapples" by the locals. It's the leading in production of pineapples in the country.


        The Del Monte brand which is found on most of the juices boxes is found based in Thika town. It's also known that, the Del Monte products found in Africa, Asia and Europe are from this great county.

      
       5. Kericho County

It's known for the largest tea plantation.
 The county is lies between 35-36 degrees  with an altitude of about 2002m above the sea level. The climatic condition in the area is very conducive for the cash crop in the county since its ever cool and wet.  


       The several brands which we came across like Ketepa, James Finley and Williamson tea comes from this county making it to be the leading export in Africa.

    6. Uasin Gishu

It's located in the former rift valley province. Uasin Gishu county is located on a plateau and has a cool temperature. Up-to date, communities living in this area are still carrying out farming in large-scale. Eldoret is also known as "Home of Champions" Eldoret town is mainly known for high production of maize and wheat. Apart from these main cash crops,they also produces pyrethrum, arrow roots, potatoes, passion fruits etc.
